This fund provides up to $500 toward 1) attendance at an academic or professional conference; or 2) research expenses (including travel). Since funds are are limited (we expect to make no more than four grants each year), awards are based on a competitive basis. Details are found here.
The fund was established in memory of Claudia Rattazzi Papka (1966-2000), Columbia BA (1987, Phi Beta Kappa), MA and PhD in Comparative Literature (1996).
Claudia's research and writing focused on medieval literature with particular emphasis on the work of Dante and other poets and writers whose interest was what Claudia called "writing the end". The fund's aim is to support the work of graduate students in Medieval and Renaissance studies through small grants for research and travel to conference on topics pertinent to the field.
