We have updated the requirements for the Special Concentration in Medieval and Renaissance Studies to reflect a more inclusive conceptualization of the field's geographic and temporal ranges.
East Asian Languages and Cultures; Middle Eastern, South Asian, and African Studies; and Slavic Languages are now included in the list of departments eligible for combination with the concentration.
Additionally, the language requirement is now more accessible. Students may now demonstrate an ability to work with relevant original language sources in one of two ways:
- Coursework focusing on the historical language, e.g. Medieval Latin or Fourth Year Classical Arabic I
- Research, e.g. a thesis or seminar paper with substantial use of original language sources.
