University of Bristol, Center for Medieval Studies Post Graduate Conference "Rules and Regulations"

December 31, 2020

Now more than ever, our lives are governed by a plethora of intersecting rules and regulations, whether in relation to politics, the workplace, social interactions, or our health. But how do our own attitudes toward and experiences of such rules and regulations, of laws, and lawbreakers, or compliance and corruption compare with those of the medieval period?

We welcome abstracts (300 words for 20-minute papers) from postgraduates and early-career researchers exploring aspects of and approaches to rules and regulations in all relevant disciplines pertaining to the medieval period (broadly construed c.500-c.1500).
