Niccolò Machiavelli continues to attract the attention of the scientific community: despite the copious literature dedicated to his life and works, Machiavelli remains in fact an "open problem". With the contribution of some of the greatest experts on Machiavelli, the symposium aims to focus on the terms of the most recent discussions on the thought and work of the Florentine Secretary, while also reflecting on what Machiavelli has to tell us today about modern politics and the future of Europe.
The symposium will include four panels, grouped thematically according to distinct aspects of Machiavelli’s life, work and legacy: La crisi italiana ieri e oggi (The Italian Crisis Yesterday and Today), Potere, eccezione, regola (Power, Exception, Rule), Profezia e religione (Prophecy and Religion), Vita, storia, teatro (Life, History, Theatre).
