April 30, 2019

Registration for MEMS Festival 2019 at the University of Kent is now open. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mems-festival-2019-tickets-55444890159

Join us in Canterbury for the University of Kent’s fifth annual MEMS Summer Festival. This two-day event celebrates Medieval and Early Modern history, with speakers topics ranging from 800 - 1850. These include politics, religion, economics, art, drama, literature, material culture, from countries spanning the globe. MEMS Fest is an informal space where postgraduate students, early career researchers, and academics can share their ideas in a friendly community. Undergraduate students in their final year of study are also welcome at the conference to network with other academics in their field of research.

The conference will include panels and workshops; lunch, teas, and coffees will be provided on both days, and a partly subsidised dinner will be held on 14 June for speakers, workshop leaders, and panel chairs. Over the two days, the workshops will include Anglo-Saxon Charters, a Canterbury Cathedral Library Tour, Maps, Digital Humanities, 14th-Century York Archbishop's Registers, and Medieval Weapons. On 10 May, the applications for travel bursaries, the sign-up sheet for the part-subsidised meal, and registration for the workshops will be sent out to those who have registered. Watch your emails and twitter for updates. Also, check out our website for more details on the upcoming deadlines before MEMS Fest 2019.

Registration is open from 24 April until 10 May but fear not, late registration will open 24 May until 31 May. Unfortunately, late registration means you will not be guaranteed your first choice of workshop or a place at the dinner. We hope as many people as possible are able to come and we are excited to meet a range of new researchers during these two-days. Please sign-up quickly so we can get more information out to you ASAP.
