Global Chaucers Project Director Discussion

April 08, 2021

On April 23rd, the program in Medieval Studies is hosting a conversation with the co-directors of the Global Chaucers project, Jonathan Hsy and Candace Barrington. Global Chaucers is a collection of performances, adaptations, translations, and re-imaginings of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in a global context; more information about the project is available here: https://globalchaucers.wordpress.com/. Readings for discussion include selections from Patience Agbabi's poetry collection Telling Tales, a new Brazilian-Portuguese translation by José Fransisco Botelho, and some (forthcoming) performance clips.

Global Chaucers is a truly fascinating project, and we'd love to get as many people involved as possible. To this end, the Medieval-Renaissance Colloquium will be sponsoring a one-hour opening discussion at 2:30PM on Friday, April 2nd. We'll be reading a special-issue essay by Hsy and Barrington, as well as a few selections from Agbabi's Telling Tales (all attached to this announcement). This event is open to any and all interested, and we extend a warm welcome to anyone with interest in Chaucer or studies in the global premodern.
