We are thrilled to welcome Devi Nayar (School of Architecture) who will present on “Gendered Space in Colonial Kerala” while Zoë Burgard (Comparative Literature) will speak about “Variations on Translation: Reading, Performing, and Empathizing with Shakespeare.” The presentations will be followed by a lively Q&A session; we anticipate the event will last roughly one hour.
Speaker bios are below:
Devi is a second-year Master of Environmental Design candidate at the Yale School of Architecture. Her research interests include gendered spaces in 15th century Kerala, gender and sexuality in domestic architecture and the intersection of religion, geography, gender and the built environment.
Zoë is a third-year PhD student in Comparative Literature. She works on Early Modern and Modernist English, Italian, German, and French literature, with a particular focus on translation theory, authorial agency, disability studies, and issues of genre.
