The Medieval Colloquium and the Anglo-Saxon Studies Colloquium invite you to a talk by Professor Rebecca Stephenson (University College Dublin) on March 26th, "Beheading the Viking Threat: Ælfric's Judith as a model for Monasticized Masculinity."

Details

Professor Stephenson considers Ælfric's Judith as part of a broader base of theological literature in reaction to Viking attacks. She argues that Judith is a model of behavior for monks, and explores the complex implications of a female model for male monastics expected not to bear arms in a time of Viking attacks.
