Nina Garsoian was the first woman to receive tenure in the History department at Columbia and the first holder of the Gevork M. Avedissian Chair in Armenian History and Civilization. She passed away last year and we hope to honor her remarkable scholarship.

This inaugural lecture will be by Christina Maranci, the Mashtots Professor of Armenian History in the departments of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and the History of Art and Architecture. She will be speaking on her project about Ani, the capital city of the Kingdom of Armenia around the year 1000.
