Colloquium: "Music on Drugs in the longue durée: Towards a History of Intoxicated Listening"

AZ (A. Zayaruznaya) is Professor of Music at Yale University. Their latest book, The Makings of Philippe de Vitry, will be the first full-length study devoted to the fourteenth century’s most celebrated and misunderstood composer, theorist, poet, and public intellectual. Their publications situated at the intersecting histories of composition, notation, and music theory have received numerous prizes including the John Nicholas Brown Prize of the Medieval Academy of America and the Outstanding Publication Award from the Society for Music Theory. More recently AZ has begun to explore the long history of intersection between musical cultures and drug cultures.
