"The Question of Middle English Romance"

Professor McDonald considers the romance of Octavian and The Erle of Tolous with a view towards exploring how "wonder"--more familiarly associated with the beginning of philosophy--puts into question the very certainties that these romances are conventionally understood to instantiate.
